An excellent opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Grower to join the team at Status Produce Ltd, the largest tomato grower in New Zealand. The primary responsibility of this role is to assist the Grower Manager with the day to day running of the site. Key responsibilities include staff management, crop management, dispatch, pest and disease identification and control, health and safety and ensuring that hygiene standards are maintained.
The role is a fixed term role for a period of 6 months and will be based at our Tuakau site. Hours of work vary between 6.30am – 4.00pm for 40 hours per week. Some weekend work will also be required.
To be successful in this role you will need to have a high level of numerical and literacy skills, as well as the ability to communicate effectively. You will also need to be well organised and have a strong analytical and problem solving ability, as well as strong computer skills. The ideal candidate will also have experience effectively managing staff. Growsafe certification and an in depth understanding of the tomato glasshouse growing industry would also be an advantage. A qualification in science or horticulture is desirable, but not essential.
