Status Produce Limited is New Zealand’s largest producer and packer of hothouse tomatoes. These crops are grown in state-of-the-art environmentally controlled glasshouses in and around Auckland. The products are packaged for both local and export markets 52 weeks of the year.
We are currently seeking an outstanding Grower based in Auckland to manage all aspects of the Glasshouse growing operations, including yield expectations, staff management, pest control, quality percentage programmes, and other technical aspects of tomato growing. The role of Grower Manager is challenging and rewarding, requiring top performers with the following profile:
· A desire to grow high yielding high quality tomatoes
· High degree of computer literacy
· Ability to manage and motivate a team
· Excellent planning and organising shills
· Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
· A sound understanding of the horticulture industry
· Horticulture qualification and/or 3-5 years industry experience in a tomato growing role
The ideal candidate will have a high level of interpersonal skills, analytical and problem solving ability. They role will be responsible for overseeing and providing guidance on irrigation, heating and other technical aspects of growing tomatoes, so experience in these areas is essential. Drive, energy and a sense of humour together with the strong and positive attributes of an achiever will be the key to success in this position.
